Care and Feeding/ FAQ

Chainmail
First, and most important, when cleaning your chainmail  you want to take any pendants, stones, jewels, and any non-metal parts off the object you're going to clean.  Many of these parts will react badly to getting wet or being exposed to some chemicals found in commercial metal cleaners.

Stainless, Brite Aluminum, EPDM rubber
These materials can generally be cleaned with dish-soap and water.  Smaller pieces can be washed by hand in the sink, and larger ones can be run thru the dishwasher on a normal cycle. Don't use dish-soap with any citrus additives as this may discolor some finishes.
For heavier cleaning jobs and oily deposits, we use "Simple Green" cleaners. Follow the instructions on the bottle for using it. Pieces should be dipped for SHORT periods into the solution, not "soaked" for long periods, (Especially the EPDM rubber)
Be sure to dry it thoroughly as some finishes may begin to cloud again.

Brass, Copper, Bronze.
These materials can be cleaned with soap and water as well, depending on the finish.  Copper that has turned a flat, darker brown or developed a pale green color can be lightened up by dipping in lemon juice for 10- 30 seconds. Please realize that these metals will begin to darken again so regular cleaning may be needed.
For heavier cleaning jobs and oily deposits, we use "Simple Green" cleaners. Follow the instructions on the bottle for using it.
Be sure to dry it thoroughly as some materials will begin to tarnish again.

Silver, Gold, and other precious metals.
For these materials, we recommend metal cleaners specific to their makeup, or have the piece professionally cleaned. Minor touch-ups can be handled with a jewelry cleaning cloth purchased from a local jewelry shop.

Gaming Terrain

When not in use, it should be kept in the ziplock bag that you received it in.  If it should get wet, blot lightly with a paper towel immediately.  Any dry dust, crumbs, or dirt can be  cleared away but lightly brushing.

Archery Equipment

When not in use, your gear should be stored out of the way after being wiped with a wet cloth.  Any wood may be wiped with a wax wipe used for furniture.
